Join us for a poetry reading with curated wine! Denzel Johnson-Green and Sara Ries Dziekonski will be reading selected works.
Denzel’s Poetry
“Many of my poems are zany, carefree like Shel Silverstein rhymy, melodic, loud, energizing. These poems are light are meant to inspire laughter, curves of lips, chuckles.
But a great deal of my poems are observant, analytical, sobering, brooding, contemplative
These are the dark red poems, the tannic poems
My go to wine is a dark red, the more tannins the better
but I also like sparkling rose and Pinot Grigio.”
Sara‘s Poetry
“Most of the poems I will be reading take place at the blood red diner that my parents owned for over three decades. My poems are rich and creamy with moments of tangy surprise. These poems are meant to nourish, ease some of your longings, and let you savor full-bellied beauty in the ordinary spaces of life.
My go to wine is always a New Zealand white“

What’s better than popcorn and $1 off your boozy beverage? All that AND a book signing! Join us on Wednesday, October 2nd from 4pm-6pm for an Author Happy Hour with Paul Wilborn! We’re celebrating 5 years of his iconic book Cigar City!
More About the Book:
Cigar City is a collection of linked short stories about the young artists, writers, poets, musicians and actors who inhabited Tampa’s Ybor City in the 1980s. Drawn by urban authenticity and cheap rents, they created a surreal, chaotic, arts scene set against the backdrop of the empty cigar factories and shotgun shacks of Tampa’s immigrant past. The Ybor scene drew international artists like James Rosenquist and mirrored what was happening in New York’s East Village.
The stories are fictional but they capture the spirit of the district during the 1980s. The collection is illustrated with photos, posters, and graphic images from the era.
More About the Author:
As a journalist, Paul Wilborn has won multiple awards from the American Society of Newspaper Editors and the Florida Society of Newspaper Editors. He won the Green Eyeshade Award from the Atlanta Chapter of Sigma Delta Chi, the South’s top writing prize. Based on a selection of his writing, Wilborn was chosen for the Paul Hansel Award, Florida’s top journalism prize. He was a Knight-Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan.
His plays have been produced at Stageworks, Off-Center Theater, Radio Theater Project, and University of Michigan.
Wilborn is the Executive Director of the Palladium Theater at St. Petersburg College and lives in St. Petersburg with his wife, the film actor Eugenie Bondurant.

Riley Jordan wasn't ready to become an adult in the real world. This would be a normal feeling for most college graduates, but Riley lived in a world of magic, and he should have already discovered his special gift by his age. At this point, he wondered if his special gift was being a loser. After a chance meeting with an intriguing human girl named Emma Clark, his whole world gets turned upside. Riley is instantly smitten by Emma, but he knows his world is too dangerous for her, as his family's complicated past with humans has proven.
Soon after, Riley has a terrifying vision of a dark wizard threatening to destroy all of humankind. The weirdest part? Emma is in the vision. Things get even weirder when he discovers some powerful magic that hasn't been seen in decades, which makes him think there is a lot more destiny about his life than he previously imagined.
Struggling to control these powers, he and his three best friends must portal-hop all over the magical realms to fight the darkness and discover the truth. Graduation and armageddon are both looming, and Riley must face his own fears of failure and learn how to protect those he loves, before it's too late.
