Wine Review: Priest Ranch Grenache Blanc, A Crowd Pleasing White to Pair with Food
Priest Ranch Grenache Blanc: A Crowd Pleasing White to Pair with Food
Smells of white peach, green pear, tangerine zest, and elderflower. On the palate, zesty tangerine and honeydew. It's dry and medium bodied.
The thing about this wine is that it is extremely balanced. As an acid head, I often lean towards wines that can have an almost unpleasant amount of that tartness which can be challenging when I'm entertaining guests who may not feel the same way.
These grapes are from Napa Valley- and the fierce sun and heat of that region can often zap the acidity out of wines. But here, just the right amount of acid is preserved, and that, along with the freshness of the fruit, makes a bright, easy, crowd-pleasing white.
This is one of our top suggestions to add to the table when you've got guests coming over and you don't know exactly what they'll want. Grenache Blanc is super food friendly and very people friendly, too, so it checks all the boxes.
This wine shines with chicken dishes (especially with the skin on!), turkey burgers (or turkey sausage) with butter lettuce, scallops in beurre blanc, or your springtime Friday fish fry (make sure to use the herbed breadcrumbs!) Or, try this with your summer fruit salad or with a white meat with a fruit based sauce. For cheese - your classic white Vermont cheddar will love this wine -even better, try the spreadable cheddar or an almond covered cheese ball for pure class and deliciousness!
