Wine Review: Big Salt White Blend 2019
Wine Review: I love when a bottle really surprises me. A white “table wine” blend with a cool label could be hiding some mass-produced, generic wine inside, but not this one. Big Salt is made sustainably and organically in Oregon by small producer, Ovum, and the quality really shows.
With a combination of some contentious grapes (Riesling, Gewurztraminer & Muscat), it might not be something you’re keen to pick up. But believe me, you’ll want to take the risk because it’s like being kissed by a mermaid. Dry, with crisp citrus flavors, light tang, and a mouthwateringly salty rim, it could almost pass for a margarita!
Imagine this: you’re sitting on the beach with some friends at sunset and the salt spray carries the delicate scent of jasmine flowers blossoming in the distance. Reggae’s playing at a beach bar nearby. You cheers each other and enjoy the normalcy of it all. Our beaches may be closed, but this wine is the next best thing.
